WHAT YOU CAN LEARN FROM A TREE

Most lives are lived on the surface. Acquaintances instead of friendships. Church attendance instead of spirituality. Pursuit of a paycheck instead of pursuit of a purpose. And we soon discover that life at the shallow end is ultimately unfulfilling. What You Can Learn From a Tree is a sermon series from the Psalms of David (beginning with Psalm 1 about a tree) that explores the deeper life: a life of intimacy with God, a closer connection with others, and a richer understanding of who you are and what your life was meant to be.

_______________________ WHAT YOU CAN LEARN FROM A TREE
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I. Don’t Walk with the Herd

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.

II. Delight in the Light

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

III. You Will Be Planted, Prosperous and Protected

3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.  4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.  6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
