REBUILDING A NEW YOU FOR THE NEW YEAR

The Six Million Dollar Man, a TV show of the 70s staring Lee Majors, began each episode with the intro:
“We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better … stronger … faster." Help us Lee Majors - 2021 will take a re-build. We’ve gone through an horrific year. It’s hit home and become very personal through illness and death in our own church family. But Paul, in his Philippian letter, gives us both the truths as well as the inspiration we need for a 2021 re-build.

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14)

Is it really possible, after a year of COVID, to experience a new you in the new year? YES! That is exactly what God wants for you and for CENTRAL this New Year. God is in the life-transformation business. Paul gives us the truths and the inspiration for a 2021 re-build.

STEP ONE: FORGET WHAT LIES BEHIND
Have you been hurt in the past? Have people said bad things about you and done bad things to you? Join the club. We all have had bad things happen to us in the past. The difference between winners and losers is this: winners let the pain from the past go. They forget it. Losers hold on to it. God says LET IT GO. Give those hurts to me so you can move on down the road. Have you blown it in the past? Again, join the club. Confess, and then accept God’s complete and total forgiveness and move on.

STEP TWO: REACH FORWARD TO LIES AHEAD
God does not want us to live looking in the rear view mirror. Have you been tempted to throw in the towel? Have you gotten knocked down and have yet to get up? The time is now to dust off the difficulties of the past and get back in the race. Press on toward the goal, toward the prize of pleasing the Lord and hearing Him say one day as you cross the finish line, "Well done, my good and faithful servant.

It's a new year. We, like Lee Majors The Six Million Dollar Man, need a re-build so that we can be "better, stronger, and faster." God through the Prophet Jeremiah was positive about our future: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (29:11)
