Donna Lou Alderson was born December 27, 1928, and peacefully departed this life for her heavenly home on April 5, 2023, at the age of 94. Donna was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to James Naylor and Aletha Josephine Hughes. She spent her childhood years growing up in the TCU area. Donna worked in her grandmother's grocery store located in the front room of her Grandmother WoWo's home. She would talk about riding their horse to pick up her mom after work. As a teenager she worked alongside her mother at the A&P grocery store. Donna spent her junior year in high school in Baltimore, Maryland, where her dad was stationed with the United States Coast Guard. She also had a job working at the Worth Movie Theater in downtown Fort Worth.

Donna graduated from Tech High School in 1947 and was a member of the Tech High School Marching Band. She met Homer Alderson, the love of her life, while in high school and they married on August 22, 1947. Donna worked at Fort Worth National Bank until they started their family in 1949 when they moved into their new home. She proudly resided in that home for 74 years.

At that time, she no longer worked outside the home, but put her whole heart into becoming a homemaker for Homer and her children, Dortha, Daniel, and Bobbi. She and Homer devoted their time to church and family. The love of her life passed away in November of 1991 at the age of 62. Their dreams of retirement unfortunately never came to be.

Donna turned to her faith and became the strength of her home and family. She was a member of Central Christian Church and she loved her church family. She spent many hours in the church kitchen helping and preparing meals. She worked in Vacation Bible Schools, organized rummage sales, and cleaned and decorated the church for special holidays and events. Then, in 2009, with the addition of the Christian Arts Museum, she became a docent. Donna also dedicated her time to the museum and loved spreading the word, inviting everyone to come visit.

When not busy with her church family, her love was her backyard. Digging in the dirt, planting her flowers and gardening were her passions. She also loved feeding and watching the birds while sitting in her porch swing. Through the years she loved her dogs, Sadie, Abby, Zoie, and Roscoe.

After two falls within 18 months resulting in broken hips, she was no longer able to serve at church but because of her love for her church family and friends, she still found a way to serve others. For the last 16 months and until just a few short days ago, she served others from her bed by making phone calls and sending cards to those who were homebound and sick. She loved doing for others. Donna always welcomed everyone as a part of her family. Karen Williams, thank you for always being there. She will be missed by all those who loved her.

The family would like to thank Beyond Faith Hospice and Able Companions, Mary Ann and Marie for their loving care for her over these last months.

Donna is survived by daughter, Dortha Hall and husband, Mark, of Benbrook, Texas; son, Daniel Alderson and wife, Conlee, of Maryville, Tennessee; daughter, Bobbi Peacock and husband, William, of Aledo, Texas; grandchildren, Scott Hall, Greg Hall and wife, Kate, Karen Brown and husband, Kenneth, Evan Alderson and fiance' James Griswold, Megan Alderson and Jonathan Richardson, Sarah Hammontree and husband, Jason, Danielle Alderson, Michael Peacock, Ryan Peacock; great-grandchildren, Andrew Hall, Lauren Hall, Caden Hall, Zachary Hall, Kourtney Brown, Kinley Brown, Kyle Peacock, Cooper Hammontree, Deacon Hammontree, Blake Hammontree; and a host of family and friends.
