WALK IN LONG SUFFERING
Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
I. Long-Suffering is Always Too Long (or it would be called
short-suffering)
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand
slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but
everyone to come to repentance.
II. Long-Suffering is a Pain (or it would be called long-fun)
James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers
and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you
know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let
perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not
lacking anything.
III. Suffering That is Long and Painful Produces Long-Term
Character
Romans 5:3 More than that, we rejoice in our
sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and
endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 And
hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our
hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
